Google is cutting prices on Google Drive cloud storage. The new price for 100 GB of storage is now set at $1.99 a month down from $4.99...Thats right, you can now store most of your personal data in the cloud for less than it costs to get your morning coffee.

CEOs at some of the nation's leading tech companies see boundless potential for big data and smarter, integrated systems to address major social challenges in areas ranging from medicine to education to transportation -- but at the same time, they worry that policymakers at home and abroad could stand in the way of that vision.

Cloud computing will become even more prominent in the coming years, with IDC predicting rapid, continued growth of major global cloud data centers.

Speaking at this week's IDC Directions conference in Silicon Valley, IDC analyst Frank Gens offered projections on a number of technology areas, including growth for cloud computing.

According to Google Chrome and Android SVP Sundar Pichai, Google has sold "millions of its Chromecast adapters since its release last summer. Pichai added that Chromecast sales are growing "very actively," and stated that the company wants to bring it to more countries soon.

Mobile computing is big business and here to stay. Not too long ago telecommuting was a concept to the mobile job seeker which consisted of questionable ‘work at home’ offerings such as envelope stuffing, paid surveys, transcriptions etc..etc… Much of this is starting to evolve today with the explosion of mobile devices, low cost cloud based services and the growing acceptance of BYOD (Bring your own devices). Start-ups can run as virtual businesses hiring mobile workers without the need to spend thousands of dollars on traditional Brick & Mortar infrastructure.

On Monday Kickstarter announced that it had passed $1 billion dollars in pledges to start up projects. How this money was raised is the interesting part.

Since 2009 Kickstarter has been grabbing headlines, asserting itself as the leader of the crowdfunding game.

Netflix and Comcast have reached an agreement set to smooth out the streaming of Netflix content to the cable company’s customers. Comcast customers have been reporting poor streaming quality and slow load times for Netflix over the past few months. This agreement settles a dispute between the two that included accusations of throttled traffic.

Domo, the SaaS business intelligence startup launched by Omniture founder Josh James, raised $125 million in a round led by TPG Growth. The total funding for Domo has now reached $250 million. Primary investors include Salesforce.com, T.Rowe Price and Fidelity Investments.
